Configuring an External IP Phone

First, you will need to know the Public IP address of the location where the TalkSwitch system is installed.  The TalkSwitch system must have the necessary hardware and must be configured to allow Voice Over IP (VoIP).

 The firewall on the network at the location where the TalkSwitch is located must be configured to allow VoIP traffic (usually using port forwarding)

Once this is all configured properly you can test this in the TalkSwitch Management Software.  Go to the IP Configuration page in the configuration menu --> Near the bottom of the page there is a button labeled "Check Firewall...", press this button -->  A new window will open then press "Test Ports" --> If everything is configured correctly all of the status marks will show a green check.

TS-350i or TS-450i or TS-550i phone:
Press the menu button (piece of paper with the corner folded over) 
Press 3 for Phone Settings
Press 7 for Firmware Update 
Press 6 for DHCP Option
Press the Down softkey 3 times until the arrow is next to No Option
Press the Select softkey and it will display "Reboot required, Reboot now?"
Press the No softkey and this will take you back to the main display.
Press the menu button (piece of paper with the corner folded over)
Press 3 for Phone Settings
Press 7 for Firmware Update
Press 2 for TFTP Server Address
Type in the Public IP Address of where the TalkSwitch system is located using * as the decimal point, then press OK softkey --> Press the menu button again --> Press Yes softkey to reboot the phone.


TS-9133i or TS-480i or TS-9112i or TS-9143i phone:

Press Options, then Network Settings
Enter the administrative password (either 23646 or 22222 by default) 
From the Network Settings menu, select TFTP Server then Primary TFTP
Enter the Public IP address of where the TalkSwitch is located 
Press Done then reboot the phone.
TS-850i phone:

In Idle mode, press the OK key on the handset (round key between the navigation keys)

Choose Settings, and press OK 

Choose Network Settings, then press OK 

Select Provision server, press OK 

Type in the Public IP address of the TalkSwitch location 

(to enter a period press Options softkey choose Insert symbol, press OK)

(use the navigation keys to choose the period, press OK) 

When finished Press the Save softkey, and then press Back 

When prompted to reboot, select Yes. 

As soon as the phone has completed the reboot process you can test a call by calling the voicemail for this extension, dialing another extension, or making an outbound call to ensure it is working properly.
