Accessing Voice Mailbox from Outside Line

There are three ways in which a user can access their Voice Mailbox from any phone:

  • Through the Auto Attendant
  • Through a call transfer
  • Dialing a General Voice Mailbox

To access a Voice Mailbox through the Auto Attendant:

  1. Dial the Auto Attendant phone number
  2. Dial * + * + (The extension you wish to access the Voice Mailbox)
  3. Dial in the password for the Voice Mailbox and press # when complete
Note: Direct line access is a feature that allows the user to directly access an outside line. This means that the user does not need to dial "9" first to select the hunt group to get an outside line.  The trade off is that the user will need to append an additional ** to access any system features. example to access voicemail user dials **<extension> will now be ****<extension>.


To access a Voice Mailbox through a call transfer

  1. Dial into the phone system. 
  2. When a user in the system answers, have them transfer you to * + * + (The extension you wish to access the Voice Mailbox).
  3. Dial in the password for the Voice Mailbox and press # when complete
To access a General Voice Mailbox, follow the same steps as above except don't include the * + * when dialing/being transferred.  These are only needed if accessing a Voice Mailbox that is attached to a specific phone extension.
