How to Reset Talkswitch Configuration Password
Last Updated: 01/29/2013
If you forgot / lost the password for TalkSwitch / Fortivoice Configuration, perform the following:

1) Open the TalkSwitch Configuration and access your configuration

2) Once prompted for the password, click the icon which says "Forgot your password?"

3) The following screen will list your System ID as well as Unlock Code.  Note both of these.
Every time the TalkSwitch / FortiVoice system is rebooted, the system generates a new Unlock Code.

If the system is rebooted, after the Unlock Code is submitted to Fortinet (but before resetting the password) the TalkSwitch / FortiVoice system will generate a new Unlock Code and the original Password Reset Key from Fortinet will no longer work.
4) Register your system with Fortinet

You can find the serial number on the back of the unit. (S/N: xxxxxxxxx)

A. go to click on "Register / Renew" link. Either Log In or Sign Up to register your unit. Then enter the serial number of your unit when prompted.

5) Contact Fortinet

A. Call (866) 393-9960. Once connected, provide them with the Serial Number, System ID, and Unlock Code.

B. Create a ticket at Make sure to include the Serial Number, System ID and Unlock Code in the ticket.

6) Fortinet will provide you with a Reset Code.  Enter it within the appropriate field underneath the System ID and Unlock Code fields.  This will remove the password to your system and allow you access to your TalkSwitch FortiVoice Configuration

In the unlikely event that the unlock code does not work, a manual reset of the system will be required.

WARNING all settings will be lost.

It is highly recommended that you back up your configuration. (File --> Save to --> File)

The reset is performed by holding the Reset button (Hole on the back of the system marked with an "R") in for 10+ seconds.

After the reset is performed, open the configuration management software and click on "Configure Auto-detected System"

You will notice that all the configuration settings have been removed.

1. Click on "File" --> "Open" --> "File" browse for your back up file and open it

2. On the Administration Page, clear the "System password" or assign a new one.

3. Save the file to your desktop with a new name (File --> Save to --> File)

4. Save the settings to the unit. (File --> Save)
