Web Recovery Solution
This procedure describes how to restore the firmware of a TalkSwitch® TS-9112 i, TS-9133i or TS-480i IP phone. This is required if the firmware of a TalkSwitch IP phone becomes corrupt and it enters Web Recovery mode. In this case, Web Recovery will appear on the display along with the IP address of the phone.
Installing files
Download and install the following:
1. Free TFTP client: Windows 32 bit: http://tftpd32.jounin.net/download/Tftpd32-4.00-setup.exe Windows 64 bit: http://tftpd32.jounin.net/download/Tftpd64-4.00-setup.exe
2. Download the appropriate file for your IP phone and save it onto your desktop.

3. Extract the TalkSwitch IP phone files into a new folder.
Remember the location.
Checking the subnet of the computer
Make sure that your computer is on the same subnet as the IP address that appears on the IP phone. Typically, the phone will display an IP address of 192.168.0.50. If your PC is already using the 192.168.0.x range, proceed to the section Configuring the TFTP server. If not, follow the instructions below:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
2. Right-click on the network adapter and select Properties. If you have more than one network adapter and are unsure as to which one to select, please contact your IT specialist for assistance.
3. Under the General tab, scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Highlight it and click Properties.
5. If the option Use the following IP address has been selected:
a) Take note of the existing information.
b) Enter the new
IP address. The Subnet mask and Default gateway are not required.
c) Click OK twice to exit.
6. If the option Obtain an IP address automatically has been selected:
a) Select Use the following IP address.
b) Enter the new IP address. The Subnet mask and Default gateway are not required.
c) Click OK twice to exit.
Configuring the TFTP server
1. Choose Start > Programs > Tftpd32 > Tftpd32.
2. Click Browse and then select the directory where you extracted the TalkSwitch IP phone files. The TFTP server is now running.
3. Take note of the IP address in the Server Interface field. This is the IP address of your PC and will need to be entered into the web interface of the phone.
Downloading the firmware
1. Open a web browser and in the address bar enter the IP address that is displayed on the IP phone.
2. In the Filename field, select one of the following: 480i.st, 9133i.st, or 9112i.st (depending upon the phone you’re updating).
3. In the TFTP Server IP field, enter the IP address of the PC that’s running the TFTP server.
4. Click Download Firmware. You should see the message Downloading Firmware. Please wait.
5. If you receive an error, disable Windows Firewall from Start > Control Panel > Security Center and try again.
6. Upon completion, you should see Firmware Download Successful. Phone will now launch application. At this point, the phone will reboot and be ready for use.
