A Fortinet Voice System or TalkSwitch system can have this happen for a few different reasons. 1. If the system is set to obtain the IP setting automatically, but the DHCP server is not responding. 2. If two systems were linked together and you moved unit 2 and it can not contact unit 1 3. If its a new install, some of the factory setup configurations didn't clear completely.
For the first scenario you need to check the DHCP server or network cabling. For the last two scenarios follow these steps:
A. Find an analog phone and plug it into the back of the system. B. Varify the system has an IP of 0.0.0.0 by dialing #91#. C. Dial #00#, to check the current unit ID of the system. If the system ID is anything other than 1 change it by following the system prompts. (Alternatively, you can dial #01# to assign a system unit ID of 1) C. After you changed the Unit ID of the System, reboot the system. D. After the system reboots, check the current IP address by dialing #91# from the analog phone and write it down. E. Once you have the IP address, use the Rest button on the back of the system (hole marked with an "R"). Hold the button for approximately 10 seconds and release. The system will reboot and clear the remainder of the proxy settings.
After the system reboots, the management software should auto detect the system, or you can can connect VIA the IP address you wrote down.
