Configuring a Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 conference phone

Setup and Configure an IP 6000 conference phone

Plug the conference phone into the network and power it on. wait for it to boot up.
1. Press the Menu button.
2. Press the 2 key on the phone, selecting Status, and then press the 2 key to select Network, and finally press the 1 key to select TCP/IP Parameters.
3. Write down the IP address that appears on the phone’s screen.

Note: It could take several minute for the phone to boot up.

Configure the Extension
A. Open the TalkSwitch Management Software Click on Configure Auto-Detected System

B. Under Extensions and Voicemail Click on Local Extensions / Fax
  • Click on Add at the top to create a new Local Extension
  • Extension type: IP Extension
  • Unit:1
  • Click Next
  • Enter First name: Conference
  • Enter Last name: Room/Phone
  • Enter Extension number: in this example we will use 150
  • Select Manufacturer: Other
  • Select Model: Other
  • MAC Address should be grayed out
  • Click Finish

C. At the Extension tab, under IP Extension Details the User name should be userXXX, where XXX is the extension number, and the password should be passXXX, where XXX is the extension number.

Configure the phone

1. In a web browser, type in the local IP address in the Address Bar.
2. When prompted for the username and password, enter Polycom as the username, and 456 as the password.

Note: The default user name and password for the Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 conference phone is: Polycom & 456. You may need to factory default the phone if these credentials do not work.

3. On the top of the screen, click SIP.

Under the Servers page enter the following information, and then click Submit and wait for the phone to reboot:

Outbound Proxy Address: Enter in the Local Private IP address of TalkSwitch. (IP Configuration section "Unit 1 IP")
Server 1 Address: Enter in the Local Private IP address of TalkSwitch. (IP Configuration section "Unit 1 IP")
Port: 5060
Transport Type: UDPonly
4. In the top menu, click on Line.
Enter the following information, then click submit and reboot:

Display Name: Phones Extension number
Address Extension number: Phones Extension number
Auth User ID TS: Configuration software > IP Extension Details > Username field.
Default value is userxxx, where xxx is the Extension number.
Auth Password TS: Configuration software > IP Extension Details > Password field.
Default value is passxxx, where xxx is the Extension number.
Label: This First and Last Name of the Extension, can be just the Extension number if need be.
Third Party Name: Phones Extension Number
Server 1 Address: Private IP of the Talkswitch system.
Port: 5060
Transport Type: UDPonly
The phone should now reboot and register with the TalkSwitch system.

You may have to manually reboot the phone if it does not reboot automatically.

NOTE: We have experienced and issue with digit mapping on the IP 6000. Removing "[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxT" in the field for local settings solved the problem with outbound dialing.
